Oscar "Benny" Adkins

Oscar Lee “Benny” Adkins, age 78, a 21 year resident of Leonard, MI., and formerly from Shelby Township, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 14, 2013. Benny was born July 3, 1935 in Wayne, West Virginia, the son of the late Millington and Mae (Ramsey) Adkins. Benny retired from Hercules Welding in Warren MI. (Obara Corporation) after 37 years in 1995. He loved to fish, bowl, playing horse shoes, card games and pool. In his later years, he loved to ride his golf cart, gardening, and watching his beloved Detroit Tigers. Shirley & Benny were members of the Faith Freewill Baptist Church in Ray, Michigan. Benny is survived by his loving wife Shirley whom he married on February 5, 1955 in Lincoln Park, Michigan. Children surviving Hugh (Tracy) Adkins of Lake Orion, David (Pamela) Adkins of Angola, Indiana, and Steve (Charmagne) Adkins of Leonard, MI. Proud Papa of 4 grandsons, Jesse, Hugh Ryan, Justin, & Mitchell. Dear great Papa to Olivia Mae. He is survived by 2 sisters, Betty (George) Paquette of Gladwin, MI., & Jane (Robert) Warf of Huntington, W. Virginia. Preceded in death by 2 brothers, Dee (Juanita) Adkins & Millington II (Dumpy) (Maedel) Adkins. He was dearly loved by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will take place on Monday, November 18 at 10 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Meadows of Faith Freewill Baptist Church of Ray, Michigan officiating.
