Paul Gerard Seger, age 78, a 49 year resident of Washington Township passed away at home on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, surrounded by his family. Paul was born on August 9, 1941 in Detroit, the son of Matthew and Marie (Kronibus) Seger. He married the love of his life, Barbara (Detrick) on April 14, 1966 at St. John Berchman in Detroit. Paul graduated from Servite High School in Detroit in 1959. He then earned his bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University, followed by two master’s degrees in education from Wayne State and the University of Oregon. Paul began his career in education at Northern High School in Detroit and then spent 32 years at Fraser High School teaching math, with five years as the department head. A devoted father and grandfather, Paul enjoyed the company of his family, including his many nieces and nephews. He was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Romeo Café League at the Romeo Golf Course. He also enjoyed playing cards, planting trees in his yard, and simply spending time with family and many close friends. Paul was a spiritual man and was a member of St. Clement of Rome in Romeo where he was involved in many activities over the years including Men’s Club, Eucharistic Minister, and lector. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Paul is survived by his wife Barbara (Detrick), children: Kathleen (Rob) Roy of Rochester Hills, Mary Beth (Erik) Myers of Spencer, New York, and Tom Seger of Traverse City, grandchildren: Derron Seger, Robbie Roy, Morgan Myers, Cailin (Kaleb) DePestle, and Emerson Seger, siblings: John (Shirley), Mary Anne (Jim) Lannon, Jim Seger, Joe, Therese (Bob) Speck, Joanie (Bob) Pawlak, and sister-in-law Darlene. Paul was preceded in death by his brother Mike and sister-in-law Joan Seger. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Clement of Rome at 10:00 am on Saturday, with the family receiving visitors at 9:00 am.
