Phyllis Maxine “Savage” Sheridan, age 89, a lifelong resident of Ray/Washington Township, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at the Village Rehab & Care Center in Armada. Phyllis was born September 16, 1923 in Ray Township, Michigan, the daughter of Orville and Nellie (Campbell) Tewksbury. She married John R. Savage, Sr., in June of 1942 and he preceded her in death in 1965. She then married Lorraine Sheridan in 1970 and he also preceded her in death in 1981. Phyllis was a cook for 10 years from 1955 till 1965 at the Washington Elementary School. She then worked for LTV from 1966 till 1980 in Sterling Heights. Phyllis loved to cook & bake and often worked as a caterer for local families and friends. She enjoyed traveling, working with the kids as a Sunday School Teacher at the Washington United Methodist Church where she was a longtime member. Phyllis is survived by her son Bill (Janet) Savage of Imlay City, daughter Janet (Pat) Stybert of Flint, and her daughter-in-law Sharon Savage of Allenton. Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and her brother Don Tewksbury of Gaylord, MI. Along with her husbands, Phyllis was preceded in death by her son John Savage, Jr., & siblings: Harold Tewksbury, Lyla Cunningham, & Joyce Smith. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with Rev. Lisa Clark, Pastor of the Capac First United Methodist church officiating. Burial will take place in the Meade Cemetery in Macomb Township, Michigan. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-8 PM. Donations to the Capac First United Methodist Church to the Parkinson’s foundation would be appreciated.
