Raymond Anthony Wiegand, age 89 of Romeo and formerly from Warren, MI., passed away on Monday, August 4, 2008 at the home of his daughter in Sterling Heights, MI. Ray was born April 30, 1919 in Centerline, MI., the son of Frank and Mary (Hellebuyck) Wiegand. He married the former Kathleen E. Shea on March 14, 1942 at St Luke Roman Catholic Church in Belleville, Illinois. Ray was a longtime owner/operator of Wiegand Well Drilling in the Macomb County area. He served his Country during WW II in the Army, was a longtime member of St. Clement Catholic Church in Romeo where he was very active in the Knights of Columbus, Council # 7018. He loved and was a good provided for his family, especially enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Ray is survived by his wife Kady, children: Virginia (Thomas ) Fette of Sterling Heights, Nancy Surella of Mansfield, Ohio, & Daniel (Kathy) Wiegand of Frankenmuth, MI . Also survived by 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, along with his brother Frank & Jim Wiegand and sisters Rosemary & Mary Lou. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert, his sister Florence and his grandson Raymond. Funeral services will take place on Thursday at 10 AM at St Clement Catholic Church of Rome with burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Twp. Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 6-9 and on Wednesday from 2-9 with a 7 PM Rosary by the Knights of Columbus, Council # 7018 of Romeo.
