Raymond W. Hatfield Jr., age 82, a Washington, Michigan resident, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025 at home. Raymond was born February 10, 1943 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of Raymond and Monna (Howard) Hatfield. On January 2, 2010 Raymond married Sharon Payne at St Clement of Rome Catholic Church in Romeo, Michigan.
Raymond is survived by his children, Michelle (John) Behm of North Carolina, Terrence Payne Jr. (Ann Marie) of Bruce Township, and Karen Powers of Oxford, as well as six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and his sister Linda White of Arizona. He is preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Hatfield.
Ray was a world class bow hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. Ray loved the adventure of the hunt from Alaska to Saskatchewan from Whitetail to Black Bear. One of his greatest joys was fishing with his ‘boys’ on his pond for bass and searching for the elusive catfish.
In 1995, Ray along with Al Fahner established a new company named Technical Finishing, Inc. (TFI) based in Flint. Utilizing their combined experience of over 75 years in the automotive plastics and paint industries, TFI quickly established itself as a trusted and reliable source for a variety of services, specializing in research and development projects, product and materials approvals for various customers supported by testing data provided by TFI’s accredited test lab. As a testament to the solid foundation built by Ray and Al, TFI remains successful with a solid customer base both domestic and internationally.
A memorial mass will be held at St Clement Catholic Church on March 15th, 2025 at 10:00 AM.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial donations go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
