Raymond L. Garstecki

Raymond L. Garstecki, age 88, a 9 year resident of Romeo, passed away on Thursday, February 29 at his home. Ray was born on January 25, 1936 in Detroit Michigan, the son of Sam and Stella (Huczek) Garstecki. Ray married Carol Speshock at St. Martin’s Church in Detroit on October 7, 1961. They were married 56 years before her passing in 2017. He served 25 years as a Detroit Police Officer, and 8 years in the U.S. Army Reserve. He also worked for Travelers Insurance for 10 years.

Ray was devoted to his family, friends and the Church, and was an active member of the American Polish Century Club.

Ray is survived by his children David (Julie) Garstecki of Macomb, and Angela (Thomas) Bell of Washington. He is also survived by grandchildren Al (Elizabeth) Garstecki Sensing, Michael Bell, and Rachel Bell.

Services will take place Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 10 AM at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, Romeo, Michigan, with Father Art Baranowski officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 3:00 pm.-8:00 pm at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home.

Ray attended Mass daily at the Capuchin Retreat Center. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Capuchin Retreat Center, 62460 Mt. Vernon, Washington, Michigan 48094.
