Raymond Richard Dembowski, age 91, a resident of Romeo since 1952, passed away at his son’s home in Romeo on Monday, April 21, 2014. Ray was born October 22, 1922 in Detroit, the son of Raymond and Lillian (Niemec) Dembowski. He married the former Phyllis M. Fournier in 1947 and she preceded him in death in 1985. Ray was the owner/operator of “Ray Dembowski Ford†in Romeo from 1952 till he retired 1979. He was a longtime member of St Clement Catholic Church of Romeo, longtime member of the Romeo Lions where he helped with the Peach Festival for many years, charter member of the Romeo Elks, enjoyed sports of all kinds, golfed for many years, and just being at his summer home in Gladwin. He served his country proud while being a Navy Pilot in WW II and was active in the Romeo VFW, Striber-McVicar Post 2052. Ray was also a Board Member of the original startup committee of the Community Hospital in Bruce Township. Ray is survived by his children: Mark (Bobbie), Chris (Jo) , Pete, Phil (Kelly), Jane (Jeff) Rogers, Libby (Shaun) Bradley. Also survived by many grandchildren and sister Felice Brezsny. Ray was preceded in death by children: Raymond & Jan. Memorial gathering will take place on Friday from 1-6 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo.
