Raymond W. Nyeholt, age 87, since 1996 a resident of Dublin, Georgia, and formerly from Mason and Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 in Dublin, Georgia. Raymond was born October 18, 1924 in Whitensville, Massachusetts, the son of William R. and Rena (Vander Zee) Nyeholt. At the age of 2, he moved with his family to Detroit, where his father owned and operated a grocery store. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. On February 3, 1948, Ray married the former Eugenia P. Posthuma and together they raised their seven children. He was an active member for over 56 years at the First Christian Reformed Church of Detroit. Raymond retired in 1998 as the owner/operator of Capital Steel in Holt, Michigan. Raymond enjoyed golfing with his family and friends. Raymond is survived by his wife Eugenia, children: Phyllis (Rick) Cassee of Virginia, Barbara Courser of Texas, Cheryl (Darrell) Platt of Georgia, William (Paula) and Craig (Beverly) Nyeholt both of Michigan, Tammi (Harry) Whittaker of PA., and Raymond (Margaret) Nyeholt of Texas. Also survived by 18 grandchildren, 16 greatgrandchildren, and sisters Nancy Smith & Phyllis Roorda. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Harold. Funeral services will take place at Cadillac Memorial Garden East in Clinton Township on Wednesday, October 3 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Mark Evans of St John Lutheran Church of Romeo officiating.
