Richard William Dettloff

Richard (Dick) William Dettloff, age 87 a Romeo resident since 1971 passed away at his home on January 14, 2022. He was born February 24, 1934 in East Detroit, MI the son of Otto and Rose (Prisel) Dettloff. He was predeceased by his parents and was the last surviving child of eight children. He was a veteran of the US Armed Forces where he served in the US Army division as a Tank Gunner, Tank Co. 86th Infantry. After the military he then worked for Chrysler Corporation where he retired in 1992 with 37 years of service. Richard married Jerry Dean Hensley on June 16, 1956 and was predeceased by his beloved wife.He is survived by his children Richard Jr. (Maxine), Darryl (Kathy), David (Janice) Dettloff and Jane (Kenneth) Roeske. Richard was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. With his faith in God he led his family by example teaching with love, integrity, and truth. He was a quiet,hard working, loyal man who gave to many who did not know him. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in Richards name to the Wounded Warriors Project or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Funeral services will be private, with burial to follow at Romeo Cemetery at 12 P.M. Local arrangements by the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo, Michigan.
