R.J. Brainard

R.J. Brainard age 82 a longtime Washington Twp., resident passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. He was born on July 5, 1937 the son of Albert and Elizabeth (Tabar). He was a graduate of Romeo High School class of 1956. R.J. was an Assistant Director and Director of the Romeo Community Youth and Civic Center from 1958-1972. He was elected as Trustee of Washington Twp. in 1972 and as a clerk in 1974 where he served until 2010. R.J. helped create and served on the Washington-Bruce Parks and Recreation Commission, the Senior Transportation Board (STAR), The Tri-Community Cable Commission , The Washington Cable Committee, Community Human Services Board, Starkweather Society Board, along with many others. R.J. was also a member of the Romeo Players , Romeo Rotary Club, Romeo Elks, Romeo Athletic Booster Club and Romeo Jaycees during his lifetime. He was also a member of St. Clement Catholic Church, Romeo, Michigan. R.J. is survived by his brother Richard (Margaret) and sister Judith (Daniel) Ewert both of Armada. One niece, three nephews, and 6 great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 10 AM at St. Clement Catholic Church, Romeo, Michigan. Visitation will be on June 11, 2020 from 9-10 AM at St. Clement Catholic Church.
