Robert D. Beckett

Robert Donald Beckett, age 72, a longtime resident of Ray Township, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at his home, surrounded by the love of his family.  Bob was born on May 29, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to Leon and Madeleine (Gardner) Beckett. He was one of the founding members of the Ray Township Fire Department, serving as the firefighter, EMT and assistant chief for 32 years.  After graduating from Romeo High School in 1965, Bob worked for Amos Roe Construction & Roy Seelbinder construction for a few years. He then was employed as a building inspector for both Macomb and Ray Township, until his retirement.     Bob married the love of his life Mary Borowski on June, 2 1967 at St Clement of Rome in Romeo, Michigan. When not working Bob enjoyed spending time on the lake boating and fishing, golfing, and of course winning at the casinos! Most of all he loved being with his family, he was blessed with many grandchildren and special friends.    Bob is survived by his wife Mary, and three daughters Kathy (Thomas) Voultos of Washington Township, Aimee (Jason) Gamache of Romeo and Kimberly (Edward) Glowicki of Bruce Township. Grandchildren, James, Alexander, Ryan, Zachary, Ashley, Jacob, Chandler, Joseph, Lauren, Jacqueline, Brianna, and Nicholas. Siblings Leon, Daniel and David (Mary) Beckett of California, three very special brother in laws  Brother in-laws Edward (Cheryl), Bernard (Helen), Richard (Patricia) Borowski, and many loving nieces and  nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his granddaughter Danielle, parents, and brothers William and Michael Beckett.    A memorial Visitation/Gathering will be held on Sunday, October 6 from 12-8 pm at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home in Romeo, Michigan with a rosary by the Knights of Columbus, Council # 7018 at 5 pm and a  Pass and Review at 630 pm by the Ray Township Fire Department. A memorial Mass will be held at St Clement Catholic Church in Romeo on Monday, October 7 at 10:00 am, followed by a luncheon at the church.  Burial will take place at 10 am Wednesday, October 9 at St Mary Cemetery in New Baltimore, MI.
