Robert E. Leonard, Sr., age 81, a 34 year resident of Leonard, MI, and formerly from St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011 at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester Hills, MI. Robert was born January 25, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Ferdinand and Mary Margaret (Murphy) Leonard. He married the former Carol Tiefenbrunn on April 30, 1960, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Louis. Robert retired from General Motors as a Labor Relations specialist in 1989. He worked 34 years in labor relations beginning at the Chevrolet Plant in St. Louis and then working at the Fisher Building in Detroit for General Motors. He received his B.A. Degree from Georgetown University in Washington DC. He also played on the football team. After graduating, he attended St. Louis University trying to attain his Law Degree, but was drafted and served in the Korean War in the United States Army from 1953 â€" 1955. His hobbies included duck hunting, scuba diving, and fly fishing. He also enjoyed being on his computer. Robert was a longtime member of St. Clement Catholic Church in Romeo. Robert is survived by his wife Carol, children: Robert E. Leonard Jr., of Farmington Hills and Patricia Ann (Paul) Fons of Allenton, MI. Also survived by grandchildren Carol Ann and Paul A. Fons. Robert was preceded in death by his sisters Marcelle and Dorothy. A Memorial Mass will take place on Monday, November 21, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Romeo, MI.
