Robert J. Cleevely, age 73, passed away on August 3, 2019 at Vista Springs Washington Place from a rare disease called Cardiac Amyloidosis. Bob was born on May 17, 1946, in Youngstown, the son of Francis and Eleanor (Diorio) Cleevely. Bob was a long-life resident of Canfield and Boardman and moved to Macomb, Michigan in 2007. Bob was a 1964 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and a 1992 graduate of Youngstown State University. Bob worked at General Motors Assembly in Lordstown, OH for 39 years and retired in 2007. He was the Planning Manager for vehicle launches and also a Production Superintendent in General Assembly. He loved his job and built many great relationships. Bob was also an army veteran and served with the 14th Armored Calvary in Germany from 1966 to 1968. He was a volunteer fireman in Boardman, coached little league baseball for 8 years and was a past member of Argus Lodge #545 F&AM. Bob was a member of Heritage Church in Sterling Heights, MI but also enjoyed attending Old North in Canfield when visiting family in Ohio. Bob married Brenda Mellott of Salem, Ohio on November 25, 2008 in Las Vegas, NV. He loved golfing, biking, travel, yard work, studio and outdoor photography with his wife. He never missed the Canfield Fair and loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns football teams. Bob will always be lovingly remembered by his wife Brenda; sons Kenneth (Lisa) of North Lima, OH and Robert (Cheryl) of Canfield, OH; seven grandchildren: Ashlyn, Morgan, Kaelyn, Madison, Cooper, Lincoln and Ruby; a sister, Susanne Wylie also of Macomb, MI.; long-time friend Tammie Cleevely; and three loving nieces and nephew (Josie, Abbie, and Brady Mellott and Lynne Wylie). He was proceeded in death by his parents and his best friend/toy poodle, Onyx. A Christian service will take place on Friday, August 9, 2019 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Old North Church in Canfield, OH celebrating the life of Robert. Friends and family may visit one hour before the service begins (11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.). The family requests that you donate to a charity of your choice in lieu of sending flowers. Bob enjoyed raising funds for Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
