Robert J. Delano

Robert J. DeLano, age 82, a 20 year resident of Gladwin, MI passed away at Mid Michigan Medical Center in Midland Michigan on June 28, 2017. He was born on October 29, 1934 the son of Joseph and Marie (koelzer) DeLano and was raised in the city of Detroit. He married Francis Hoenscheid on May 25, 1957 in Detroit Michigan. Robert retired from Chrysler Corporation where he worked for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Rochester, Detroit, and Gladwin. He was also a Boy Scout Leader, a volunteer Sheriff in Gladwin and really enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels. In his spare time, he loved golfing, wood carving and deer hunting. He is survived by his wife Francis of Gladwin, his daughter Donna (Dennis) Smolinski from Romeo, and his sister Bernie DeLano of Rochester, Michigan. He also survived by 6 grandchildren: Melissa (Phil) Holloway of Sterling Heights, Jennifer (Matt) Rodda of Romeo, Paul Mazzola of Grand Blank, Rob Mazzola of Warren, and Nick Smolinski of Shelby Township. He was preceded in death by his daughter Connie DeLano in August of 2016. Funeral services will take place on Monday, July 3, 2017 at St. John and Paul Catholic Church (7777 28 Mile Rd. Washington, MI 48094). Visitation will be on Sunday, July 2, 2107 from 3 PM to 8 PM with a Scripture Service at 7 PM. Burial will follow at 2 PM at Christian Memorial Cemetery, in Rochester Hills Michigan. (521 E. Hamlin Road, Rochester Hills, MI, 48307)
