Roberta "Berta" Louise Petz

Roberta Louise Petz, (“Berta”), adoring wife to husband Thomas Petz and loving mother and grandmother, passed away with her family by her side on July 5, 2023 at age 82, after a long courageous battle with lymphoma and AML. Roberta met Thomas in 1961 while they were both working at General Motors. They fell in love instantly and were married on April 28, 1962. Their marriage of 61 years was blessed with 3 children and 8 grandchildren. When Roberta’s children were young, the phrase “stay-at-home-mom” didn’t exist as it was usual for women to stay home with the children while their husbands worked. But even by the standards of the era, Roberta was an exceptional wife and mother. She cared deeply for her family and neighbors and never knew a stranger. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She loved her family most of all and was always available to babysit for her 8 brightest stars…her grandchildren.

Roberta is survived by her loving family - husband Thomas, children Kevin Petz (Laura), Dawn Naif, and Stacy Sunde (James), grandchildren Kyler, Konner, Kailee, Brendan, Mackenzie, Madeleine, Danica, and Blakely, and many dear friends and extended family.

Roberta will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at the Henry Malburg Funeral Home in Romeo, Michigan:

• 2 – 3 PM family

• 3 – 8 PM family and friends with Rosary at 7 PM

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Kieran Catholic Church, 53600 Mound Rd in Shelby Township, MI.

In lieu of flowers, family would like donations sent to St. Jude's Children's Hospital
