Roger S. Bailey

Roger S. Bailey, age 70, a28 year resident of Almont and formerly from St Clair Shores, MI., passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at his home in Almont. Roger was born July 21, 1940 in Addison, MI., the son of Ross S. and Edna (Woolace) Bailey. He married the former Christine Young on March 29, 1975 at the First Methodist Church in Detroit. Roger graduated from Hillsdale College with a teaching degree and received his Masters Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University. Roger then taught social studies at Kelley Jr. High in East Detroit for many years before retiring in 1985. Upon retiring, Roger worked from his home, selling Elvis Memorabilia and mail order collectables. Roger is survived by his wife Christine of Almont, children: Robert (Shelley) Bailey of Florida, Lori (Paul) VanDyker of Clinton Township, Lisa (Richard) Jackson of MI., Jennifer (John Kacir) Rogers of Ferndale, David (Erin) Rogers of St. Clair Shores, Andrea (Donald) Kerby and Ellen (Allan) Harry both of Almont. Also survived by 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren along with one brother James Bailey of Lake Somerset, MI. Roger was preceded in death by his daughter Leigh Elizabeth Rogers Funeral services will take place on Saturday at 11 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo.
