Roman L. Wesolowski, age 91, a 39 year resident of Romeo and formerly from Warren, MI., passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at his home. Roman was born August 1, 1920 in Warren, MI., the son of Lawrence and Paulina Wesolowski. He married the former Giovanniani Rimi on June 12, 1954 in Fair Haven, Michigan. Roman served in the Army during WW II in “The Golden Crossâ€, 33rd infantry Division Association, where he eared a Purple Heart. Other awards include a Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon w/2 Bronze Battle Stars, Philippine Liberation ribbon w/1 bronze battle star, 4 overseas service bars, 1 service stripe, and good conduct medal. After the war, Roman went back to cutting meat in Warren at the “Roman’s Market†located at Chicago road and Mound. He owned/operated his store from the middle 1950’s till the middle 1960’s. He was well known in Warren for weighing all the new born babies on his meat scale and having the pictures put in the paper. He was most proud of putting his 6 children thru St Anne’s Catholic School in Warren while being “JUST†a meat cutter. For a short time after selling his business, he worked at Great Scott Supermarket as a meat cutter. Upon retirement, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, being a carpenter, and doing anything with his hands. He was also a member of St Clement Catholic Church of Romeo and a member of the Striber-McVicar Post # 2052 in Romeo. Roman is survived by his wife Jennie of Romeo, children: Lawrence (Linda) of Ortonville, David (Sharon) of Clarkston, Gail (Dale) Brinker of Almont, Kathy Wesolowski of Clarkston, Carol (Roger) Klein of Leonard, and Mary (Gary) Poulos of Canton, GA. Also survived by 10 grandchildren. Roman was preceded in death by his siblings: Lambert, Sylvia, Clara, & Philomenia. Funeral services will take place on Monday at 10 AM at St Clement Catholic Church of Romeo with burial to follow at the Romeo Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Saturday from 6-8 and on Sunday from 2-8 at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo with a 6 PM Military service and a 7 PM rosary by the Knights of Columbus, Council #7018 on Sunday night. Donations to the Wounded Warriors would be appreciated.
