Ronald James Schocke

Ronald J. Schocke, age 82, a lifelong Romeo resident, passed away at home on December 19, 2023. Ron was born on May 5, 1941, the son of James and Jean (Walker). He graduated from Romeo High School in 1959, and eventually from Wayne State University with a degree in business.

Ron spent many years working for Twist Drill in the Human Resource Department before buying Romeo Nursing Center in the early 1970’s. He then purchased Romeo Continuing Care before selling both facilities and retiring on December 21, 2016. He cared for not only the patients entrusted to him, but their families and also his employees. Romeo Nursing Center was one of the first nursing homes in Michigan to garner a 5 Star rating. Ron always attributed this excellent care to every single employee.

Ron loved to do many things. Golf was a weekly, many times more, occurrence.You could find him on the golf course rain or shine as golf would morph into cut throat euchre games.

The Romeo Family Restaurant was a favorite spot with meals eaten there several times a week at the ‘Round Table’.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Lisa Schocke, children Jim (Lisa) Schocke, Jennie (Ara) Krimian, Michael Schocke, Andy (Sabrina) Schocke, and Stephen (Brooke) Schocke. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and also his brother Gary (Marge) Schocke.  Ron was preceded in death by his parents and son Chris in 1986

Funeral services will take place on Friday, December 22 at 11 am with Pastor Mark Evans officiating at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 3pm-8pm.
