Rosemary J. Kern, age 84 of Washington Twp., passed away Monday, October 19, 2015 at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Rosemary was born April 6, 1931 in Wheaton, IL., the daughter of Thomas J. and Rose Ann (Kuhn) Kavanagh. After graduating from St Annes School of Nursing in Chicago with a RN Degree, Rosemary then worked for many years as a registered nurse at Martha T. Berry Medical Facility in Mt Clemens before retiring in 1996. Upon retirement, Rosemary volunteered her time with many organizations including being a parish nurse and Eucharistic Minster at St Clement, member of the Wisdom Keepers, was a “Friend of the Library”, helped with the Romeo Garden Walk, member of the Historical Society of Romeo and a member of the “Book Club.” She also enjoyed growing and showing her flowers at her home and just being with her many family and friends. Rosemary is survived by her husband John, children: Patricia (Dave) Hartman of Covington, Virginia, , Kathleen Kern (Patrick MacVeigh) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Margaret (Michael) Merholz of Lynchburg, Virginia, Edward (Elizabeth) of Grosse Pointe Park, MI. and John S. of Mountain View, CA. Also survived by grandchildren Ruth Ann Hartman, Aurora & Maxwell MacVeigh and Steven Merholz. Rosemary has one brother Thomas (Ann) Kavanagh surviving along with John’s brother Thomas (Virginia) Kerr and many nieces & nephews. Funeral services will take place on Thursday at 10 AM at St Clement Catholic Church with burial to follow at Guardian Angels Cemetery in Oakland Township. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-8 with a 7:30 PM scripture service at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan.
