Rudolf "Rudy" Ams

Rudolf “Rudy” Ams, age 77, of Almont, unexpectedly passed away at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital on May 18, 2023. Rudy was born on May 7, 1946, in Linz, Austria, the son of John and Maria (Hryciw) Ams. Rudy was a 1964 graduate of Roseville High School. Rudy attended Michigan Tech, graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. He was then drafted into the US Army, and served for 2 years. He later attended Oakland University, obtaining a Master’s Degree in History. On May 10, 1975, Rudy married Rosalie Hessell at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Detroit. Rudy was an artist who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, astronomy, and nature.

Rudy is survived by his wife, Rosalie of Almont, children Paul (Tanya) Ams of Goodland Township, Mark (Kerstin) Ams of Meadville, Pennsylvania, and Alisha (Joe) Lapinski of Rochester, brother John (Ingrid) Ams, and grandchildren Lucas Ams, Eli Lapinski, and Laurel Lapinski.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023 from 3 PM to 8 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo, Michigan. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 10 AM, at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, Romeo, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Seven Ponds Nature Center of Dryden, Michigan, one of the places that Rudy enjoyed most.
