Ruth Helen Vinson

Ruth Helen Vinson, age 92 passed away surrounded by family members on February 9, 2024. She was born in Detroit on November,1931. She was the daughter of immigrant parents Gustav and Emilie Ehlert and the sibling of four sisters and two brothers. Throughout her life she loved the nick-name Grass Hopper. Her father called her that as a child. Her early life was one of simple means. She told stories, never in a complaining way, of growing up in a small house and collecting coal along the railroad tracks to help with heating their home.

She later married Allan Earl Vinson and became the mother of five children. In addition to raising her children at times she worked outside the home to help make ends meet. She was most proud of becoming a real estate agentand working for Chamberlain Real Estate.

Ruth enjoyed several hobbies including golf, flower gardening, crocheting, photographing sunsets, garage sale-ing for that special lost treasure, and sewing. She lived life as a snowbird for many years which allowed her to extend her golfing season.

She is survived by 5 children, 16 Grand Children , and 20 of 21 Great Grandchildren .
