Salvatore Terrizzi, ‘Sam,’ age 95, a 40-year resident of Washington Twp. and formerly from Detroit, MI passed away on February 26, 2013 at Sunrise Senior Living in Rochester, MI. Salvatore was born March 21, 1917 in Johnstown, PA., the son of Antonino and Grazia (Bongiavonni) Terrizzi. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Carmela (Dominick), whom he wed on August 3, 1938 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bakerton, PA. Salvatore was raised in San Pier Niceto in the province of Messina, Sicily from the age of 5 to 18, helping his parents as a produce vendor with his cart and mule. Upon returning to the U.S., Salvatore worked in the Pennsylvania coal mines. He moved to Detroit in 1941, became a barber and owned “Sammy’s Barber Shop†in Detroit for more than 30 years. He joined General Dynamics, Warren, MI in 1976 as an inspector and retired in 1983. Salvatore was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed working in his garden. He stopped to talk with his many friends as he bicycled around Romeo. Salvatore is survived by his nieces Sarah (Terrizzi) Kingman and Grace (Terrizzi) Stella of CA; his cousins Ann (Maimone) Busunis and Katherine (Maimone) Berzonsky of Bakerton, PA and Patricia (Maimone) Bodenski of OH; his brother-in-law Jack Dominick of Carrolltown, PA; sisters-in-law Josephine Dominick of Carrolltown, PA, Teresa (Dominick) Leonard of Harrisburg, PA and Angela (Dominick) Raffa of Washington Twp., MI. Salvatore is also survived by: nephew Charles Raffa, wife Diane and their children, Luis, Jose, Claudia, Gustavo of Bruce Twp., MI; niece Adrienne (Raffa), husband, John Przybysz of Rochester Hills, MI and her children, Thomas Aquisto, MD of Chicago, IL, and Michelle (Aquisto) (Todd VanElsacker) of Clinton Twp., MI; niece Connie Raffa of Beverly Hills, MI; nephew Nance Raffa, wife Sherian of Rochester Hills, MI and daughter Amy of Houston, TX; nephew Frank P. Raffa and wife Colette of Ortonville, MI; nephew Samuel Raffa PhD, wife Nancy and their children, Anthony (Kaylee), Caroline and Jonathan of Rochester Hills, MI; niece Camille Raffa-Dietz, husband, Richard Dietz of Detroit, MI; nephew Anthony Raffa, wife Sandra, and daughters, Elizabeth of Kawkawlin, MI and Emily (Peter Miele) of Royal Oak, MI; nephew James Raffa, wife Lou Anne and daughters, Bethany (Evan Delmotte), Catherine, Sarah, Kristi of Washington, MI; nephew Dennis Dominick, wife Nancy, of Sterling Heights, MI; niece Linda (Dominick), husband Frank Vandekerckhove and her children, Sean Nowicki of Jackson, MI, Jessica (Nowicki) (Brian Kleinfeld) of Saginaw, MI, and Christopher Nowicki; niece Therese Dominick of Bloomfield Hills, MI; nephew Frank Leonard, wife Linda and their children, Frank and Paul of Annandale, VA; nephew Thomas Leonard and wife Melissa and daughter Allison, of Harrisburg, PA; nephew Robert Leonard and wife Jennifer and children Matthew and Caty of Harrisburg, PA.
