Sean Downey

Sean M. Downey, age 49, a 17 year resident of Romeo, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2007 at Troy Beaumont Hospital. Sean was born April 30, 1957 in Grosse Pointe, MI., the son of the late Gerald and C. Maureen (Sammon) Downey.  He married Shifa Alan on May 3, 1987 in LaSalle, Ontario.  Sean received his Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from Wayne State University and was currently employed for the last 10 years as a civil engineer with the L.T. Elsey & Sons in Harper Woods.  He previously worked at Lehner Engineering in Mt Clemens & Giffels-Webster Engineering in Rochester, MI. Sean enjoyed life as a Yoga Instructor, was a black belt Aikido, refereed AYSO soccer games, and as a former cancer survivor, participated in our local Relay for Life for many years.      Sean is survived by his wife Shifa, children:  Aylin (currently at the University of Michigan) and his son Erol. Siblings surviving include Michael (Michelle) Downey and Margaret (Frank) Podsiadlik both of Eastpointe, and Michelle (Tom) Rowen of Shelby Twp.      Funeral memorial services will take place on Thursday (March 8)  at 11 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with Fr. Robert C. Schuster of Holy Innocents/St. Barnabas Catholic Church officiating.  Donations to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
