Sheryle DeHondt of Romeo, MI passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at the age of 73. Sheryle was born in Grosse Pointe Farms on June 6, 1951 to John and Betty (Finlayson) Mill. Sheryle grew up in St. Clair Shores, MI and upon graduating from South Lake High School, she attended Western Michigan University, Michigan State University, and completed her Masters degree at Oakland University. She spent over 30 years teaching in the Utica and Rochester Community schools districts. Her subjects included English, Language Arts, Special Education, Art, Math, Science, and was in charge of the Robotics Team and Reuther Middle School.
Outside of her passion for her students, she enjoyed time up North at her cottage as a member of the West Twin Lake Association, decorating her home, collecting antiques, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Sheryle is survived by her sons David (Laura) DeHondt of Davison, Dane DeHondt of Romeo, her brothers John (Rose) Mill of Clarkston, Kevin (Michelle) Mill of Romeo, and her grandchildren Brianna DeHondt of Davison, and Alan DeHondt of Davison.
She is preceded in death by her husband Roger DeHondt. They were married for 35 years.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 10 - 12 pm at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home in Romeo, MI. Funeral Service will begin at noon also at the funeral home, with a luncheon to follow at Grace Lutheran Church (7525 32 Mi. Rd, Bruce Township, MI 48065)
