Shirley Catherine Thorman, age 89, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Shelby Health & Rehabilitation Center in Shelby Township. She was born April 5, 1931, in Ray Township to Edgar and Catherine Thomas. She was a life-long Romeo resident, graduating from Romeo High School in 1949. She married John Edward Thorman, Jr. on August 5, 1950. Shirley enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, and gardening. She enjoyed watching the wildlife from her front porch, and could identify any bird that landed on her feeder and knew when that bird was there last. She loved the outdoors and spending time with her family. She came from a very large family, Shirley being the youngest of 15. The stories she told of growing up on a a farm with all of those siblings were priceless. She is survived by her children, Barb (Ted) Robinson, Diane (Doug) Cook, Mark (Luanne) Thorman, and Mary (Dave) VanHorn, along with 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Edgar (Ed) and many nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, John who passed in May 2019, and by 13 of her 14 siblings: Mable, Lawrence, Clarence, Florence, George, Ivan, Marguerite (Ruth), Charles, William, Albert, James, Patrick, and Lewis.
