Shirley Mae Adkins age 78, was a 25 year resident of Leonard Michigan. She was formerly of Shelby Township Michigan. She died peacefully at home on July 31, 2017. Shirley is holding the hand of Jesus, walking streets paved with gold while she is touring her new Heavenly home. Shirley was born Nov 16, 1938 in Hartford, MI the daughter of the late Tom and Rosa Aline (Shelley) Cossey. Shirley retired from United States Postal Service after 25 years in 1992. She loved family and hosted many parties and holiday gatherings over the years. She loved quilting, garage sale bargains, ceramics, crafts, flower gardening, butterflies and cats. In her later years, she loved to ride her golf cart and take rides in her car. Shirley is a member of Faith Freewill Baptist church in Ray, Michigan. Shirley was married to Oscar Lee "Benny" Adkins on Feb. 5, 1955 in Lincoln Park, Michigan. Benny preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 2013. Surviving children are Hugh (Tracy) Adkins of Lake Orion, MI, David (Pamela) Adkins, of Frederic, MI, and Steve (Charmagne) Adkins of Dryden, Mi. She was a proud Granny of 4 grandsons, Jesse, Hugh Ryan, Justin, and Mitchell. Shirley was a dear Great Granny to Olivia Mae. She is survived by her brother William and sister Alberta. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers Joe and Larry and sister Barbara. She was dearly loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be at Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home on Wednesday August 2nd, 2017 from 3PM to 8PM. Services will be held on Thursday, August 3rd, 2017 at 10 AM at Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home at 11280 32 Mile Road, Romeo Michigan. 48065.
