Sophie Tsafaroff

Sophie Tsafaroff, age 87, a resident of Romeo since 1992 and previously of California, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the Sanctuary at Bellbrook in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Sophie was born March 17, 1926 in Detroit, the daughter of Chris and Zoia (Kostonoff) Shamanduroff. She was married to Thomas Tsafaroff on April 27, 1947 in Toronto, Canada and he preceded her in death on August 25, 1974. In her youth she enjoyed swimming, softball and tennis. Her first job after High School was as a clerk at J.L. Hudson in downtown Detroit. In the late 60’s, while living in Toronto, she worked as a clerk for Southern Publication. Sophie lived in Huntington Beach, California for 20 years. She worked as an employment clerk for the State of California and retired after 18 years of service. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, watching baseball and politics. Sophie also enjoyed her daily walks around downtown Romeo. She valued her family and treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren. Sophie was an energetic, sweet and kind individual who touched the hearts of those who met her. She will be missed. Sophie is survived by her children: Debbie Glinski of Romeo, Tom Tsafaroff of Port Huron and Carol Tsafaroff-Murray of Rochester Hills, Michigan. She is also survived by her grandchildren Lindsey and Michael Glinksi and sister Violet Newton of Warren, Michigan. Sophie was preceded in her death by son-in-law Chris Glinski and sister Victoria McClain. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 18 at 10:30 AM at Nativity of the Virgin Mary Macedonian Orthodox Cathedral.. (43123 Ryan, Sterling Heights, MI 48314). Visitation will be on Monday from 2-8 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan. Burial will take place at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar, California. There will be a funeral luncheon immediately following the Funeral Service at the Rochester Chop House, 306 S. Main, Rochester. In lieu of flowers donations to The American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
