Susan Emily Kalnow

Susan Emily Kalnow, age 89, a 52 year resident of Shelby Twp., passed away on Thursday January 21, 2021 in Romeo at the Orchard Grove Health Campus. She was born Dec. 5, 1931 in Detroit, the daughter of Rudolph & Ruth Goergen (Lechner). She met her husband Max at the age of 16 and was married January 20, 1951 and lived happily together until Max’s death on Feb. 11, 2010. Susan worked over 20 years as a manager of Winklemans, 10 years as a Nurses-Aid and retired from the Romeo Community Schools SAC Development Program. Susan was a loving wife and mother and was adored for her caring and generosity as a grandmother. She is survived by her Sister Joan Campbell married to Steven Campbell; Children Mark R. Kalnow married to Marie Kalnow of Sterling Heights, Sheryl M. Reiber married to Tim Reiber of Romeo; Grand Children Matthew Reiber married to Brandy Reiber, Nathan Reiber and Mary Kalnow; Great Grand Children Maya, Aliya, James, Jayden, Alaina and Brennon; and was preceded by her Loving husband Max and her brother Rudolph Goergen. Susan was a very talented woman. She was an excellent seamstress and had a small bridal business designing and creating wedding gowns. She shared her love for many crafts with her family, and taught many of these skills to her grandchildren. Susan loved the holidays - especially Christmas - and would frequently entertain her family and friends with carefully planned parties. She will be greatly missed. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 11 AM at St Kieran’s Catholic Church (53600 Mound Road, Shelby Township, Michigan 48316). Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home (11280 32 Mile Road, Romeo Michigan 48065) from 2-8 PM
