Thomas R. Stanis

September 10, 1931 — July 21, 2017

Thomas R. Stanis, age 85, a 23 year resident of Dryden Michigan and formerly from Rochester and Macomb County, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester Hills, Michigan.  Tom was born September 10, 1931 in Cranberry, West Virginia, the son of Steve and Bessie (Pralgauski) Stanis.  He married MaryAnn Pionte 61 years ago at St. Lucy’s Church in St Clair Shores, Michigan.  After serving his country proudly in the Marines during the Korean War, Tom attended Lawrence Tech majoring in Architecture and then became a self-employed custom home builder (Stanis’s Building Inc.) building homes in Oakland and Macomb County for over 35 years. While building, he was also a building inspector for Washington Township for many years.  Along with his family, he was very active in the Mt Vernon United Methodist Church and was instrumental in the maintenance/additions that were needed at the church. Tom is survived by his wife MaryAnn, children: Janice Stanis, James (Nancy) Stanis, and Diane Nickell all of Dryden.   Also survived by 4 grandchildren Tom (Marie), Katelyn (Brian), Lindsay, Kara (Brian) and one great granddaughter Kennedy.  Tom was preceded in death by his sister Linda. Funeral Services will take place on Monday at 11 AM at the Mt Vernon United Methodist Church with burial to follow at the Mt Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Sunday from 2-7 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan.
