Tyne J. Ojala, age 95, a two year resident of Imlay City and formerly from the Romeo area, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the Lapeer County Regional Hospital. Tyne was born January 21, 1913 in Negaunee, MI., the daughter of Walter and Helena (Korhonen) Aho. She married Elmer (Buck) Ojala on August 23, 1933 in Marquette, MI., and he preceded her in death on May 7, 1984. Tyne retired from Hamill Manufacturing in Romeo in 1973 after 9 years of employment. She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Romeo and a member of the Eastern Star of Romeo. Her hobbies included being with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved to cook, knit, and read books. Tyne is survived by her children, Richard Ojala of Shelby Twp., Nancy (Charles) Readle of Newaygo. MI., Marie (David ) Rees of Romeo, Elaine Hoekwater of E. Lansing. Grandchildren include Charles Jr., Christopher (Laura) Readle, Jennifer (Michael) Travis, Michael (Rose) Ojala, David Joshua Rees, Jeremy (Lisa) Rees, Janna Rees, Tara (Dr. Steve) Dunn and Shannon (Brian) Holmes. Great grandchildren include Jeremiah, Elizabeth, & Hannah Readle, Courtney, Lauren, & Ava Dunn and Addison Ojala. Tyne was preceded in death by daughter Johana, her son-in-law, Captain Gene W. Hoekwater of the Michigan State Police along with 2 brothers & 2 sisters. Funeral services will take place on Saturday at 1 PM at the First Congregational Church of Romeo with Pastor Lynn F. Witt of the Family Christ Lutheran Church of Imlay City officiating. Burial will follow in the Romeo Cemetery. Donations to the Romeo High School Band or to Sanctuary at Casa Maria in Imlay City would be appreciated. Visitation will on Friday from 3-9 PM with a 8 PM Service by the Romeo Eastern Star.
