Verna A. Upton

Verna A. Upton, age 98, a 60 year resident of St Clair Shores/winters in Florida, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Evangelical Nursing Center in Sterling Heights. Verna was born March 2, 1912 in St Mary’s, Ontario, the daughter of Harry and Elsie A. (Brooks) Wreford. She got a teaching degree in Ontario and taught for a few years before marring Franklin Upton and moving to St Clair Shores. Upon Franklin’s retirement, they spent their winters on their boat in Florida and the summers in Michigan. Her hobbies include knitting, crocheting, & being with her beloved dogs. Verna is survived by her grandchildren Eric (Jennifer) Reschke of Armada Twp., Mark (Crystall), Devon, Kana, & Morgan Upton all of Parry Sound, Ontario. Also survived by great grandchildren Alexandra & Anna Reschke and her daughter in law Joanne Upton of Parry Sound. Verna was preceded in death by her husband Franklin, children Diane Reschke on Oct. 10, 2010 and her son Donald Upton. Funeral services will take place at the Avondale Cemetery in Stratford, Ontario.
