Veronica P. Grycza

Veronica P. Grycza, age 93, a 5 year resident of Romeo and formerly from Sterling Heights/Detroit, passed away at her home in Romeo on Wednesday, March 30, 2011. Veronica was born July 12, 1917 in Detroit, the daughter of Paul and Pauline (Paskiewicz) Selke. She married Ignatius Grycza on July 18, 1941 in Ohio and he preceded her in death on August 16, 1991. Veronica worked over 25 years at SS Kresge Dime Store in Detroit and also worked as a waitress at Sam Chirco’s Bar in Detroit for many years. Along with her sister, they were know as “Peanuts & Trixie”, a singing duo in Detroit and they performed at many bars in the Detroit area. Her hobbies include playing the lotto, going on Casino Trips and enjoying being part of the Sterling Heights Senior Citizens and upon moving to Romeo, she joined the Romeo Senior Citizens and exercise center. Veronica was also a member of St Clement Catholic Church in Romeo. Veronica is survived by her children: Ernestine (Lionel) Malbouef of Shelby Township, Terrence Grycza of Stockbridge, MI., and Nadine McConnell of Romeo. Grandchildren include Paula (Walter) Fouts of Washington Twp., Dylan and Jessica McConnell both of California. Great grandchildren include Audrey, Alyse, & Mitchell Fouts. Veronica was preceded in death by her siblings: Sylvia Thibodeaux, Eleanor Breeze, Isabelle Reinhold, and Harold Selke/Sellae. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, April 2 at 10 AM at St Clement Catholic Church in Romeo with Fr. Jim Andres officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-9 at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan. Burial will take place at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia.
