Virgil J. Laurain

Virgil James Laurain, age 92, passed away on Sat., Sept. 16, 2023 at his home. Virgil was born Feb 12, 1931 in River Rouge, MI., the son of Archibald & Eva (Page) Laurian. He married the former Mary Ann Boland 1953 and she preceded him in death on June 2, 2023. Virgil served his country in the Marines in the Korean War. After the war, Virgil attended University of Detroit where he earned his Bachelor and Master’s Degree. Upon moving to the Romeo area, he worked for the Romeo School for many years as the Assistant Superintendant in the finance department. He was active at St. Clement Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, Council # 7018, a charter member and former president of the Romeo Kiwanis Club, president of the M.S.B.O., and coached football. Virgil also enjoyed Woodworking, Tennis, and bowling.

Virgil is survived by his sons Bill (Nancy) Laurain of Lakeland, Dan (Peggy) Laurain of Romeo, John of Lansing, Pat (Denise) of Romeo, Marty (Colleen) of Shelby Township, grandchildren Bill Jr., Anthony, Michael (Michelle), Chris, Erin (Sierra), Jacey, Garrett, Mara (Steve), Tyler (Lindsay), Blake (Breanna), Cooper (Rachael), Catherine and Ryan, and great-grandchild Miles Laurain & Charlotte (Charlie) Laurain. Along with Mary Ann, Virgil was preceded in death by his children James, Mark, and Diane.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 10 AM at St Clement Catholic Church of Romeo burial at Guardian Angels Cemetery in Oakland Twp. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8 with a 7 PM Rosary and Military Honors at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan.
