W. Ray Hicks

W. Ray Hicks, age 82, a 45 year resident of Romeo, passed away on Saturday January 16, 2010 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy. Ray was born August 12, 1927 in Kentucky, the son of Virtue and Eva (Redmond) Hicks. He married the former Rosemary Render on October 17, 1953 at St Frances Catholic Church in Francesville, Indiana. Ray graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor Degree in Engineering and then with his Masters at Xavier University. He then worked at TACOM for many years as an engineer before retiring in 1977. Upon retiring, he enjoyed being with his family and working in his garden. Ray is survived by his wife Rosemary, children: Susan (Steve) Meyer of Mentor, Ohio, David (Michelle) Hicks of Ypsilanti, MI., Bobbie (Mark) Dembowski and Dan Hicks, both of Romeo. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and one great grandson. Siblings surviving include Nancy Hicks, Linda (Dan) Reynolds, & Charles Hicks all of Marseilles, IL., and Dolly Baiz of Ottawa, IL. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 10 AM at St Clement Catholic Church of Romeo with Fr. Doc officiating. Burial will take place at the Romeo Cemetery. Donations to the American Diabetes would be appreciated. Visitation will be on Monday from 5-9 and on Tuesday from 2-9 at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan.
