Wilbur Henry Lothery was born on May 14, 1924 in Romeo Michigan. He was reared in a Christian environment; and accepted Christ as his personal Savior early in his life. Wilbur was a devoted husband and loving father. He was a humble and soft spoken man; loved and respected by all who knew him. He played in the Negro League alongside his brother and cousin where they played against the likes of Satchel Paige. He also loved to play football in high school and roller skate. Wilbur graduated from Romeo High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 - 1946 earning a Victory Medal, Asiastic Pacific Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Medal. Wilbur was honorably discharged in 1946. He retired from GM Fisher Body Plant in Pontiac, MI where he worked for 34 years. Wilbur joined the First Church of God in 1968 in Romeo, Michigan. Our Creator called his beloved child home on Saturday, March 17, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father Lee Lothery Sr, mother Mary Lothery, four brothers, Russell Lothery, James Lothery, Lee Lothery Jr, Chester Lothery and sister Gilberta Dean. Wilbur leaves to cherish his memories his lovely wife Carelyn (Hughes) Lothery of 55 years, son Rueben Lothery, two daughters Barbara Lothery and Bernadine Lothery, two sisters Judy McCoy and Lola Shelby and a host of loving relatives and friends.
