William George Scopis

William George Scopis, 73, a resident of Ray Township since 1976, passed away on April 13, 2020 at his home. William was born on November 21, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of George and Genovieve (Kalinowski) Scopis. He was a devoted husband for 45 years and a loving father. William graduated from Allen Park High School. He served as a Marine in the Vietnam war and was awarded the Purple Heart. William was a Teamster, where he was an owner operator.. He enjoyed spending time with his family at “The Cabin” in Manistee, Michigan. He was an avid and ethical hunter and fishermen. He touched many people's lives with his genuine and goodhearted nature. He was cherished by many. William is survived by his loving wife, Mary Carrell (Scopis) of Ray Township, children Jessica Scopis (Jeremy Kerr) and Alicia Scopis (Remo Sapiel), also of Ray Township, and granddaughter Alice Hope Sapiel. A memorial service will take place at a later date.
