William J. Monahan

William J. Monahan, age 91, a lifelong resident of Romeo, passed away Saturday August 17, 2024 at Corewell Beaumont Hospital of Troy. William was born October 8, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Terrance J. and Dorothy Ann (Wehenkel) Monahan. William served in the Army, and fought in the Korean War. On April 28, 1956, William married Patricia Slusser at St. Clement Catholic Church in Romeo. William worked at Metro Tool and Die, then at the Chrysler Warren Stamping Plant for 16 years in Tool and Die. He was a member of the Striber McVicar #2052 and the Disco VFW #4659, as well as a longtime member of St. Clement Catholic Church. William enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and boating.

William is survived by his children, Karen (Mark) Huss of Romeo, Terry Monahan of Clinton Township, Roger (Gloria) Cook, of Kentucky, grandchildren Ashley (Andrew) Lixey, Karli Monahan, Mitchell Monahan, Nichole Cook, Jason Cook, Lisa Blevins, Denise Cook, and Carol-Ann (Lucas) Monaghan, and his sister, Rosemary Henderson. He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Monahan in 2001, siblings, Carl Monahan, and Cheryl Zuehlk, his sons Dennis Cook in 2023, and George Cook in 1970, and grandchild Deborah Blevins in 2005.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 23, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St Clement Catholic Church of Romeo. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 3:00PM to 8:00PM with a 7:00PM  Military Honors by the Macomb County Ritual Team followed by a Rosary by the Knights of Columbus, Council # 7018 of St Clements. at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo MI. Burial will take place Friday August 23, 2024 at 11:30AM at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East (38425 Garfield Rd, Clinton Township, Michigan 48038).
