William L. Palmer

William L. Palmer, age 81, passed away on June 30, 2020 at his home in Oakland Township (Rochester), MI surrounded by his family. Bill was born the son of Peter W. Palmer and Anna K. Kreuzer on September 1, 1938 at the family's home in Luzerne, MI. Bill was a mechanical engineer. Among his many career accomplishments are many patents including two on seat belt design. Bill loved spending time in the country with his wife and children. His favorite vacations were hiking and camping trips out west. Bill was well known for volunteering to do labor intensive outdoor chores for his neighbors and for regaling friends and family with stories of Skipper the Wonder Dog. Bill is survived by his wife of 59 years; Gail of Oakland Township. Children; Michael Palmer of Oakland Township, Steven (Bonnie) Palmer of Almont, Deborah (Philip) Rosenthal of Bakersfield, CA, Samantha (Michael) of Tetonia, ID. Grandchildren; Declyn, Liam and Kameron Palmer and Sydney and Luke Kitchen. Nieces; Kathie (Mike) Pontious and Beverly Morse. Nephews; Scook (Dennis) Morse and Patrick (Julie) Morse. Bill was predeceased by his father Peter, mother Anna, sisters Bernice Morse and Mary Lou Carey, brother in laws Dennis Morse and Mark Carey, and nephew Mike Carey. Bill's final resting place will be in the Palmer family plot located in the Big Creek Township (Luzerne) Cemetery. A Celebration of Life is planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you honor his memory by living Bill's way of life and helping neighbors (and others) with no expectations of anything in return. You may also choose a donation to Rochester Neighborhood House (www.ranh.org). or a charity of your choice will be appreciated.
