Winifred A. Tait, a 51 year resident of Romeo, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, in Chelsea, Michigan. Winifred was born April 3, 1924, in Royal Oak, the daughter of Peter and Winifred Walsh. She married William L. Tait on June 7,1947 in Port Huron. She graduated from Central Michigan University in 1946 with a teaching degree and taught in the Port Huron school district. Winifred was a lifelong bridge player, a member of the Romeo Garden Club, and a substitute teacher in the Romeo school district for many years. She was an avid walker who completed the Macinac Bridge walk 15 times. She was a faithful letter writer, die-hard Detroit Tigers fan, and was involved in numerous ministries and activities at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill. They were married for 51 years. She is survived by her children Brian (Marilyn) Tait, Lakeland, Florida; Mary (Dane) Morris of Hartland, Michigan, Sheila Tait of Miami, Florida; Bruce (Mary) Tait of Orlando, Florida; Maureen Tait (Cindy Dempsey) of Chelsea, Michigan; Christine (Tom) Pfennig of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Catherine (Jim Wall) Tait of Linville Falls, North Carolina. Also survived by grandchildren Andrew, Catherine, Patrick, Conor, Matthew, Mitchell, Corey, Jamie, Emily, Tim, Margaret, Sarah, and Alicia, and one great grandchild, Matthew; along with two sisters Rosemary Clinton of Livonia, Michigan, and Rita Dobbs of San Diego, California. Visitation will be held at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Friday, November 1st, from 2:00 - 7 pm with a rosary at 7 pm. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 2nd at 10 am at St. Clement of Rome Church, Romeo, MI. In lieu of flowers donations to the Capuchin Retreat house would be appreciated (62460 Mt. Vernon Road, Washington, MI 48094) Burial will follow at Romeo Cemetery.
